Samgyupsalamat is a popular Korean charcoal barbecue restaurant franchise in the Philippines that started in 2012, catering initially to De La Salle University students in Kapitan Tikong, Manila. Its name is a playful portmanteau of the Korean word “samgyup” for the barbecued meat dish and the Tagalog word “salamat,” meaning “thank you.”
The restaurant offers a DIY-style of eating where customers can choose their meat, grill it themselves, and enjoy it with a set of appetizers or banchan, such as kimchi and braised baby potatoes.
The restaurant initially served ala carte meat dishes for barbecuing, but gradually shifted to offering unlimited samgyeopsal promos, allowing diners to indulge in unlimited pork or pork and beef barbecue. Samgyupsalamat has over 50 branches and is a popular choice among barbecue-loving Filipinos.
