Balay Dako is a restaurant located in Tagaytay, Philippines that serves Filipino cuisine. The name “Balay Dako” comes from the Negrense language and means “Big House.”
The restaurant tries to recreate the feeling of a traditional Filipino family compound, where the main house is where family and friends get together to celebrate important events in life.
The restaurant offers a first come, first served policy and does not take table reservations. Balay Dako also has event spaces for private bookings.
These include Azela, a smaller, exclusive dining venue for up to 20–40 guests, Silong, a larger main event venue for up to 90–150 guests, and Terraza, a top-floor venue with a view of Taal Lake that can hold up to 70–100 guests.
On the menu at Balay Dako, you can find native Filipino dishes that were made before written history, as well as dishes that were influenced by seafaring traders and those that were changed by colonial rule.
The restaurant celebrates every Filipino’s shared sense of family and history with every dish that they serve.
