Dairy Queen is a fast food chain that specializes in desserts and treats, with more than 6,000 restaurants across the United States, Canada, and 18 other countries.
The company was founded in 1940 when a father and son team developed a soft frozen dairy product and ran a trial sale in Kankakee, Illinois.
The product was a hit, and Dairy Queen soon became one of the first franchised food businesses in the US.
During World War II, Dairy Queen’s growth was slow, but after the war, the company expanded rapidly, reaching 1,446 stores in 1950 and 2,600 in 1955.
Today, the company is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. and continues to be a popular destination for families, sports teams, and business people. Dairy Queen is known for its slogan, “So Good It’s RiDQulous®,” and its commitment to customer satisfaction.
The company also supports charitable causes through its partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the DQ® Cares Product Grant Program.
